Morning:
Begin your day early to explore the magical landscapes of Skardu. After a light breakfast in Skardu town, set off for Shangrila Resort—famously known as “Heaven on Earth.” Located beside the tranquil Lower Kachura Lake, this peaceful spot is perfect for a lakeside walk or a quick boat ride surrounded by towering peaks. Afterward, visit Upper Kachura Lake, known for its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking mountain reflections—ideal for photography and quiet moments by the shore.
Midday:
Next, drive toward Satpara Lake, a scenic alpine lake around an hour away. This serene body of water, set amidst rugged mountains, is ideal for a lakeside stroll or, if available, a peaceful boat ride. After taking in the scenery, return to Skardu town for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy regional specialties like Chapshuro, mutton karahi, or warming shorba.
Afternoon:
After lunch, head uphill to explore Skardu Fort, perched high above the valley. The centuries-old fortress offers fascinating insights into the region’s past, along with panoramic views of the Indus River and surrounding peaks. From there, begin your journey toward Deosai National Park—an expanse of rolling plateaus, wildflower meadows, and sweeping views. Even reaching the park’s edge rewards you with incredible scenery and a sense of Skardu’s vast wilderness.
Evening:
Return to Skardu in the evening, where you can unwind, stargaze, or browse handmade crafts in the local bazaar. If time permits, make a short trip to the beautifully restored Shigar Fort, located just outside town. Wander through its historical corridors, admire the museum displays, and enjoy views of the Shigar Valley before wrapping up your day back at your accommodation.
