Celebrated in mid-May, Chilimjusht marks the arrival of spring in Kalash Valley. Women wear vibrant traditional dresses and floral headpieces while men play drums and dance in circles. Villagers decorate their homes, offer goat milk to deities, and perform rituals to welcome prosperity and fertility. Bumburet and Rumbur become centers of joy and colorful gatherings.
Uchal is celebrated in August to thank the gods for a successful harvest. Kalasha people wear ceremonial attire and gather in village temples for spiritual offerings and prayers. The festival includes community dances, singing, and sharing of locally prepared cheese and wine. The valleys echo with folk music, highlighting gratitude and unity.
Held in December, Choimus is the most sacred Kalasha festival, celebrating the end of the year and warding off evil spirits. People light torches, perform purification rituals, and offer prayers to their ancestors. For several nights, men dance around fires while women stay indoors, preparing special meals. The final night includes large feasts and spiritual chants.
