Tour Details

K2, at 8,611 metres above sea level, is the second highest mountain in the world, after Mount Everest at 8,848 metres. It is located on the China–Pakistan border between Baltistan in the Baltoro Glacier Karakoram Mountain range Pakistan.

Itinerary

Day 1 Islamabad Arrival

Arrive at Islamabad airport transfer to hotel, afternoon city tour of Rawalpindi & Islamabad.

Day 2Fly to Skardu

Fly to Skardu, the flight from Islamabad to Skardu is subject to weather, incase of flight cancellation for any reason the group will depart for Skardu by road, fly to Skardu flight No pk.451 upon arrival transfer to hotel overnight for stay.

Day 3Drive to Askoli valley

Drive to Askoli valley 6/7 hrs via Braldu river-Dassu village-Apligon-Pakora . After long drive arrival Askoli valley  overnight at tent 3000m (9750 ft).

Day 4Trek to Jhola

Trek to Jhola 6-7 hrs 12.6km. Altitude 3,200m. Overnight in tent. The early morning light finds us beginning our k-2 expedition as the loads are distributed among the porters. Walking along the Braldu River. It takes 3 to 4 hrs from Askoli to Korofoung. After lunch continue to trek to Jhola (3-4 hrs) you have a panoramic view of Bakhor Das peak 5809m also mighty Biafo Glacier. Follow the riverside trail to confluence of the Biafo and Dumordo rivers. Cross the formidable Domordo River at Jhola for established camp for overnight stay at tent.

Day 5Trek to Paiyu

Trek to paiyu 6-7 hrs 16.6km Altitude 3450m overnight in a tent. This is an undulating walk, difficult at time with the first views of dramatic mountains ahead. There is rest stop by some tamarisk trees beside lunch, the stream flowing down from paiyu peak, where we saw ibex tracks. The trail climbs to a vantage point from which you see the snout of Baltoro Glacier and in the far distance of magnificent panorama of the cathedral and Trango Towers and left of them the unmistakable triangle of k-2, arrival camp at paiyu for overnight stay in tent.  

Day 6Trek to Urdukas

Trek to Urdukas 5-6 hrs 10.34km. Altitude 4,100m. Overnight in tent. Start 2-3 hours, walk across wasteland and traverse Biafo Glacier, a tortured ocean of moving boulders and crevasses 2 km wide. Cross the glacier and enter a bunch break continue to Jhola (4-5 hrs) cross Dumurdo River Bridge and camp at rather dusty campsite surrounded by a few bushes with a side stream at Urdukas for established camp for overnight stay at tent

Day 7Trek to Goro-II

Trek to Goro-II 5-7 hrs 8.6km Altitude 4380m overnight in a tent. 6-7 hours walk on the glacier. The first hour walk is across difficult side crevasses; however the way is smoother and easy in the center. Continue for 2-3 hours to Goro-I opposite of yermando glacier falling down from the Masherbrum pass. For the next 3-4 hrs continue east up the Baltoro glacier. Following telephone wire from army HQ Goro to Gasherbrum IV.Goro-II campsite is pitched on the rough stones and ice in the center of the glacier with water from the glacier melt at Goro-2 for overnight stay in tent.

Day 8Trek to Concordia

–Goro-II – Concordia (4380m).

Trek to concordia 4-6 hrs 15km Altitude 4380m overnight in a tent. After an early breakfast resume a long walk on the Baltoro glacier to a point called Concordia –a huge junction of Baltoro , Abruzzi and Godwin Austin glaciers at 4000 meters within a short raduus of 15 kilometers, stand 41 peaks over 6500 meters including 04 peaks above 8000m. A magnificent view offers a panorama of peaks nowhere to be found on earth. Overnight in tents. All meals served by camp staffs.

Day 9Trek to k-2 Base

Trek to k-2 Base Camp 4-5 hrs overnight in a tent.

Final day of trek to K2 base camp. A trek 4-6 hrs trek will bring you to the base of K2. Here you will say good bye to your approach porters for about 09 weeks. Overnight in tents. All meals served by camp staffs.

Day 10-39Base Camp Climbing Time Period

30days climbing and acclimiztation period of Broad Peak -8047M (26401 ft)

Day 40Base Camp – Goro-2

Trek back to Goro-2 camp over night stay at tent

Day 41Goro-2 – Urdokas

Trek back Urdokas basecamp over night stay at tent

Day 42Urdokas - paiju

Trek back to Paiju camp over night stay at tent

Day 43Pajiu – Jula

Trek back to Jula camp site over night stay at tent

Day 44Jula – Askoli

Trek back to Askoli valley over night stay at tent

Day 45Askoli-Skardu City

Drive back to Skardu city for overnight stay

Day 46Skardu-Islamabad

Fly pk 451 to Islamabad 1- hrs flight time from Skardu to Islamabad. Arrive and transfer to hotel overnight Islamabad. After lunch visit sightseeing Taxila, Rawal Pindi and Islamabad city.

Day 47Fly back to home

Transfer to airport for return flight back to home country.

What skillset and fitness level are required?

These expeditions are within extreme high altitude environments, with differing requirements when it comes to the ability needed. Due to the nature of the elements involved, you must provide concise, honest descriptions of relevant experience and current fitness levels. Upon receipt, we will review your experience and respond accordingly. At this point, if we consider there to be any shortfalls, we can collectively discuss the opportunities and/or provide a training support plan to achieve your goals.

Will I get my own guide?

Yes. We guarantee a 1:1 guide to client ratio on every expedition, with four additional climbing Sherpas acting as reserves, ready to chip in if needed. This helps ensure the highest safety standards.

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?

We can provide full office facilities at basecamp, including Wi-Fi. Satellite phones are also available throughout the expedition for emergency and essential comms.

 

What equipment is provided?

All communal equipment is included ie. high quality ropes, stoves, tents etc. You are responsible for personal gear and clothing, eg. harness, crampons, helmet, ice axes etc. A full essentials list and advice (if required) will be provided at time of booking.
