3 Hours Before Flight Time
Begin your journey from Dushanbe with a scenic 3.5-hour drive into the Fann Mountains. Arrive at the breathtaking Alauddin Lake and spend the afternoon exploring the area. Spend the night in either a mountain lodge or a tented campsite by the lake.
Start the challenging ascent toward Chimtarga Pass with a 7 km trek and 800 meters of elevation gain. Follow rocky trails from Alauddin Lake to Mutnyi Lake. Camp overnight by the lake, surrounded by dramatic alpine landscapes.
Our morning drive takes us from Swiss lakes to Swiss Army. At the once-secret Swiss army bunker at Fortress Fürigen, we’ll see part of the massive defense system designed to keep Switzerland strong and neutral. Afterward, a short drive into the countryside brings us to the charming Alpine village of Engelberg, our picturesque home for the next two days. We’ll settle into our lodge then head out for an orientation walk. Our stroll through the village will end at the Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery with its own cheese-making operation. You’ll have free time to wander back before dinner together. Sleep in Engelberg (2 nights). Bus: 1 hr. Walking: light.
Continue your steady climb, gaining another 900 meters as you ascend to 4400m. Reach the base camp on the eastern side of Chimtarga Pass. The high-altitude campsite is remote and cold, offering stunning views and solitude.
Trek down the valley, passing the vibrant green Malo Allo Lake along the way. Follow the river trail deeper into the Archamaidan Valley. Camp by the river at a peaceful spot surrounded by nature.
Walk upstream along the Archamaidan River to the confluence with the Sarymat River. Enter the Sarymat Valley, trekking gradually uphill and setting up camp near the river at around 2450m elevation.
Climb 850 meters up to the Tavasang Pass (3300m), the trek’s final major ascent. Descend into the beautiful Haft Kul valley, home to seven terraced lakes. Camp beside the highest lake with stunning mountain reflections.
Enjoy a scenic drive back to Dushanbe, passing the lower six lakes of Haft Kul en route. If desired, walk part of the valley before joining the vehicle. You’ll be dropped off at your preferred location in the capital.
