3 Hours Before Flight Time
Morning
Start early from Khaplu or Skardu, driving through charming villages along the Shyok River. The journey to Hushe takes about 3.5 to 4 hours from Skardu. Along the way, you’ll pass through Machulu and Baleygon, witnessing lush farmlands and dramatic rock faces. Arrive in Hushe village by late morning, greeted by views of towering snow-capped peaks.
Late Morning
Take a guided walk around Hushe village, where stone houses line narrow trails, and locals welcome visitors with Balti hospitality. Enjoy views of Masherbrum (7,821 m) and Laila Peak from nearby meadows. You may also visit a local school or interact with families to get a sense of life in this high-altitude settlement.
Afternoon
Enjoy a freshly cooked lunch with a local family or at a guesthouse, featuring Balti dishes like buckwheat bread, soup, or yak meat curry (subject to availability). After lunch, take a short walk toward the Aling Glacier viewpoint or Saling, depending on trail and time.
Late Afternoon
Spend some quiet time near the riverbank or at the edge of the moraine. Capture the golden light on the mountains or simply sit and take in the serenity of the place.
Evening
Begin your return drive to Skardu or Khaplu by early evening. The return journey offers changing mountain light and beautiful evening hues along the valley. Arrive back by late evening, ending your scenic and peaceful day in one of Baltistan’s most stunning and less-traveled valleys.
