The Batura Glacier Trek takes you deep into the Karakoram, offering one of the most scenic and rewarding trekking routes in Northern Pakistan. Spanning 57 kilometers, Batura is the world’s 7th longest non-polar glacier and the 4th longest in Pakistan. Towering peaks, expansive ice fields, alpine meadows, and isolated shepherd settlements combine to create a raw, unforgettable experience. This trek is ideal for those seeking remote beauty, physical challenge, and a deep connection with nature.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
Arrive in Islamabad and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, there may be an evening briefing with your guide.
Embark on a full-day drive through lush valleys and alpine passes, including the scenic Babusar Top. Overnight in Chilas.
Continue along the legendary Karakoram Highway toward the iconic village of Passu, home to dramatic mountain views and glacial rivers.
The trek starts from the edge of Batura Glacier. A gentle but steady ascent leads to Yunz Ben, a green pasture at the foot of the mountains. The first views of the ice field are awe-inspiring.
You’ll cross sections of the glacier and hike along moraine trails toward Yashpirt, a stunning summer pasture with yak herders and wildflowers. The views of Passu Cones and Batura Massif are unforgettable.
The trail today takes you deeper into the glacier’s wilderness. Guchsum is a high meadow surrounded by ice cliffs and alpine ridges, making it a perfect rest stop in the middle of the journey.
This is a rest and exploration day. You can hike to a nearby viewpoint overlooking the central Batura Glacier or relax among wild yaks and alpine flowers.
Begin the return journey by descending back toward Yashpirt. The scenery feels fresh in reverse, with new angles on familiar peaks.
Another downhill trek through pastures and glacial terrain leads you back to the Yunz Ben campsite.
Finish the final segment of your trek, reaching the roadhead at Passu. A short drive to your hotel and a warm shower await.
Travel down the Hunza Valley to Karimabad, home to Altit and Baltit forts, local handicrafts, and panoramic views of Rakaposhi and Ultar.
Spend the day visiting historical sites, organic cafes, and learning about the rich culture of the Hunza people. Optional hike to Duikar viewpoint for sunset.
A scenic return journey via Babusar Pass brings you to the alpine town of Naran for your final overnight in the mountains.
Complete the journey with a return to Islamabad. Option to explore local bazaars or rest before departure.
These expeditions are within extreme high altitude environments, with differing requirements when it comes to the ability needed. Due to the nature of the elements involved, you must provide concise, honest descriptions of relevant experience and current fitness levels. Upon receipt, we will review your experience and respond accordingly. At this point, if we consider there to be any shortfalls, we can collectively discuss the opportunities and/or provide a training support plan to achieve your goals.
Yes. We guarantee a 1:1 guide to client ratio on every expedition, with four additional climbing Sherpas acting as reserves, ready to chip in if needed. This helps ensure the highest safety standards.
We can provide full office facilities at basecamp, including Wi-Fi. Satellite phones are also available throughout the expedition for emergency and essential comms.
All communal equipment is included ie. high quality ropes, stoves, tents etc. You are responsible for personal gear and clothing, eg. harness, crampons, helmet, ice axes etc. A full essentials list and advice (if required) will be provided at time of booking.
